F-35 Freeware version released!

I have changed my plans and released the freeware F-35 before the F-14D... The reason is that the F-14D Beta need more work than I though to make it a more meaningful release, and, well, I am not in the right mood to go through the tedious process of writing the missing code right now.
On the other hand, I've made several minor updates to the F-35, and I prefer to release it now. So here we go.

Version 2.10 – FREEWARE RELEASE
December 30th 2012 – CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS VERSION:
  • Minor changes to .air files, less drag at transonic and supersonic speeds (to bring behavior closer to lates official claims)
  • Slightly reduced A/B thrust for B version (as in the real thing, B version has a different nozzle design)
  • Removed MFD and wide cockpit screens, unused by most users
  • Solved autothrottle bug (unable to engage A/T due to missing A/T arm flag in aircraft.cfg)
  • Fixed event firing bug in HMD code
  • Added specific inner bay doors animation to F-35B (inner doors open while hovering to improve lift, as in the real thing)
  • Fixed pilot animations in F-35B model
  • Added miscellaneous external views
  • Fixed pan rate for external views
  • Added custom sound package, courtesy of Serge Luzin
  • Changed hovering mode weight limit to 40600lbs (was 42000) according to the latest official data
  • Removed .exe installer, now manual installation is required
NOTE: FROM THIS RELEASE (2.10) ONWARDS THE LICENCE IS CHANGED TO FREEWARE:USAGE IS FREE, AND YOU ARE NOW FREE TO COPY THIS SOFTWARE, HOWEVER ANY MODIFICATION OR ALTERATION OF THE FILES IS STILL PROHIBITED.

It can be downloaded from the link on the side bar. Will be uploaded to avsim later on. Have fun!

wohoo! Another Christmas present!

You are welcome! Happy New Year!

Aside, please note that the file sharing setting was not properly set, so some of you may have had their download rejected.

File has been uploaded to avsim and should be online soon (uploaded to flightsim, too, but I had ftp problems...)

The best just got better, thank you. And Happy New Year! J.

Thanx a trillion man and Happy new year to you too!! And btw, can you upload this file on flightsim.com cause right now its not available through google drive cause too many people have downloaded it :(

Unknown said...

It should be already available at avsim.com.
I was unable, so far, to successfully upload to flightsim, due to ftp issues...

Unknown said...

Dino, if you want I can try to upload it to flightsim.com from this side of the pond. Let me know I would be glad to help. I did post on flightsim.com FSX forum that you had reeased it as freeware and people are very much wanting to get it.

Thank you so much!!!! Happy New Year!!!

great job Dino,like any other of yours.
wish you a faboulous 2013.
Just a question: HUD only and no panel? (at least on my PC)

Hi Dino, good job, only a missing thing in the soundset, bitchin' betty voice alerts, good job now it works fine with the new soundset on prepar3d too.

Bye Bye and happy new year Grabby.

Unknown said...

Dino, thanks this is becoming my favorite plane.
Happy New Year..

Unknown said...

@David Telford
Yes, please do so. I've tried to upload to flightsim several times (using an ftp client) and I Always get some sort of error during the upload.

@ Ezio
Correct. No 2D panel provided, I've been designing planes with VC only for a while now and I think it is a better solution.

@ Frank
Thanks. I will have it translated by a german friend of mine - although I think I grasp part of it!

@ Grabby
Yes. I preferred to use it as it was provided by the soundpack author, although it would be easy to fix this.

@ Everyone else: thanks for the appreciation!

hi there

thanks for this fantastic package for the sim! its really cool to be living in a place where real f35s are stationed and to be able to fly it in the sim.

quick question, will this work with fsx sp2? i thought that sp2 and acceleration were the same things.

André K. said...

Thank you very much Dino.

My best wishes for 2013,
André.

Unknown said...

@Brian

No, SP2 and Acceleration are not the same: specifically Acceleration has more functionalities. The SP2 is likely to crash if tries to load the F-35.

Unknown said...

Done, I uploaded it at 09:00 01-02-13

@David

Thanks!

Dino, First THANKS for the F35...Im enjoying the F35C more that anything and came across an issue you can help with.When the plane os sitting on the carrier at idle or eng off..the plane seems to move on its own...ex I;ll park the plane straight, then a few minutes later it moved from its former position..is this an with contact points????

Unknown said...

Hi Javier

It is (most probably) a contact point issue, and it is present in all three versions from the beginning.
I've tried several times to get rid of it, and never managed to simultaneously get rid of it and have a good ground Handling. After many attempts I gave up and decided to live with it in order not to compromise the ground Handling.

Javier said...

Thanks Dino.....also , is there a way to install the refueling gauge in the panel cfg to do air2air refuling???

Unknown said...

Hi Javier

...never tried to do add the refueling gauge. In principle, I believe there is no reason why it should not work.

@Dino: You even don´t have to wait for the German translation, as we also published a short news article about you projects. ;)

Thanks for your great work for our community!

Thanks for a great plane. On my system the Warning/Caution indicator always seems to be on. Is this a bug or a problem with my install?

Thanks Again,

Honeycool said...

Dino,

I think there is an issue with engine. I loaded the F35B cold but the EGT seemed to be running at 15% and the engine sound is on too.

Unknown said...

1,024 downloads from flightsim.com in 48 hours! I think that says something about the quality of your work.

Unknown said...

Oustanding once again.......a note of appreciation for your many uncompensated hours of work.

Unknown said...

Thank you all for your appreciation!

@David
Thanks for your article!

@Sieggie
Well, the MFD graphic representation is probably wrong - when the warning and cautions are off they show like coloured letters on black backround, while when they are on they appear like black letters on coloured background. This was my interpretation of ealy MFD images. Most probably noting shows, when off, in the real deal... If your behaviour matches my description, well - it is not a bug, but a (probably) wrong interpretation from my side.

@Honeycool
I could not replicate that...I believe it may be a sound package "issue" (some engine sounds are available even when engine off) and a bug in the MFD engine display. So engine is off, but "seems" to be running....but I am not sure. Does this apply to -A and -C models too?

Does anyone have the Vlso parameters for the F35C????

Unknown said...

Thanx my new favourite airplane.

Fits my needs exactly. Fast low lvl flying and trying to land on mount everest etc.

Sent you some beer money. Enjoy!

Unknown said...

Dino, you are very welome. I am just glad to help you.

Unknown said...

Thank you very much!!

the real F-35 may have its problems but this one works perfectly, thank you for a superb effort!

Hey Dino,

Is there a possiblity of adding an air to air pack for this aircraft? I know you have a close air support pack and I was wondering if you were thinking of adding an air to air pack with AIM-120's on the wing pylons? If not that is fine. I really enjoy flying this aircraft

Unknown said...

Thanks for making it a freeware its the best aircraft ever and the same thing with your other aircraft!
